New Fabrics!

Cowgirl

We see a lot of fabric collections over the course of a year and by now you should know if it has COWGIRL in the title we will be buying it for Quilt Corral.

Just in is this gorgeous collection featuring pink and turquoise (plus brown and a touch of yellow). No, we didn't commission it especially for Quilt Corral but we sure don't mind that it has Pink (for Barb) and Turquoise (for Carol - actually, all of it for Carol!) The collection includes a retro horse print and several traditional western designs such as leather tooling, boots, blanket prints and charming small scale calico florals. But what makes these prints special is the boots are filled with flowers, the leather tooling comes in pink and turquoise! Yes it does! And the cows are highlanders decorated with flowers. We have the whole collection plus layer cakes, Fat Quarter packs, and a large panel.

Focus on handwork

If you love having a handwork project ready for on-the-go sewing consider making a little tote bag using 2 1/2" mini charms to hold everything. The 7" x 10" size is perfect for an embroidery hoop and a hand stitching project and the clever double layer of fusible fleece makes it stand up on its own. The sample pictured was made using the Fleur de Paris by French General mini charm pack.

New Notions!

Magic Binding Spool

Introduced as an accessory for the Magic Binding Maker, use these spools for storing binding until you get your quilts back from the quilter. We love them because we discovered a secret, you don't have to iron the binding in half lengthwise. You don't even need the Magic Binder Maker, although we have it in stock too.

Here's how we use them: Cut the binding strips, sew together into one long strip with diagonal seams. Press the seams open. Now, put the iron away and go to your comfy chair and fold the binding in half lengthwise as your roll it onto the spool. The crease will hold until you're ready to apply it to your quilt.

If you make the binding just before applying it (Carol) get the two pack.

If you make the binding when you finish the quilt top (Barb) get the four pack.

Riley Blake Single Fold Bias Tape binding

Cut 2 1/2" on the bias, folded and pressed, and ready for your project. Sold by the yard. Give it a try the next time you need bias for a bag project! We only have a few colors so here's a tip: Choose your bias binding first, then choose your fabric!
