Growing up on the Ranch

Each month for the first 6 months make an embroidered block, an applique block (we used fusible applique), and a strip of patchwork. The final two months of the program features setting pieces, and borders. Our version is made with a plethora of western prints in a palette of red, blue and cream.

Finished size is 72" x 76"

New Fabrics!

Cowboy Blues

Here's the thing with western prints, we have to buy them when they come around and sometimes that means we get several new western collections in all at once. Carol couldn't pass up Cowboy Blues!

Cowboy Blues is classic western with advertising logos, broncos, buckles, and of course horseshoes, hats, boots and ropes. It's mostly faded denim blue with cream, brown and red. We have several prints and the precut 10" squares.

Slow Summer

Just in is this collection from Art Gallery. Think of the slow part of summer when the grass along the roadside has turned golden and the flowers have faded and the sunsets linger late into the evening. That's Slow Summer. Muted shades of taupe, green, gold, orange and cream - to name a few. Retro-like plaids, marbled swirls and subtle diasies. Think about a set of placemats and napkins and a coordinating apron, or porch pillows that are already a little on the mellow side. Or, of course a quilt using your favorite pieces of the collection.

Click here to see all of Slow Summer.

Click here to see the coordianting 58" wide Wild Flower Wovens solids. (Perfect for table runner backings because you'll only need one width of fabric!)

Here's an image showing both fabric groups.

New Kits!

My Home quilt kit

Alternate double sawtooth star blocks with house blocks to make this charming quilt by Poppy Cotton. We have created a kit that includes the pattern, fat quarters, two red prints for the stars and the binding fabric. Add 4 1/2 yards of your own background. Colors are similar to those picturd on the pattern and include both Lori Holt prints as well as Poppy Cotton prints. Barb stitched up a little four block sample so you could see how cute the appliqued cherries look!

Click here for the kit. (You will also need 4 1/2 yds of background)

Floral Seed Quilt

We've combined J Wecker Frisch Sewing Seeds packet panel with prints from the Hide and Seek collection pu them together with the Bunny Love pattern to create a Quilt Corral original! Perfect for a porch swing or draped over the back of your sofa for a touch of summer. Much more beautiful in person!!

Focus on handwork

Double Lush Velvet

This new product from Riley Blake is similar to minkee but it is two sided, smooth and silky to the touch, with wonderful drape.

You could just hem or bind the edges and call it good but when Barb saw it she immediately wanted to do a crochet edging with yarn. This requires a special rotary blade to cut the holes, then it's just typical crochet.

Click here for the Double Lush Velvet. 1 1/4 yards makes a nice size blanket.

There are lots of youtube tutorials. Search for "crochet edge fleece" if you need help learning the technique.
