Block of the Month:

NEW! Harriet's Journey

This fantastic quilt features 100 blocks, each finishes 6" x 6". Make 5-8 blocks per month using the Harriet's Journey book and a variety of techniques to include rotary cutting, templates, foundation paper piecing and a few appliqued blocks (we used fusible applique). An example of what you woud make in one month is shown below.

Many of the blocks can be cut using Accuquilt. Barb used the 6" Qube and the 4" Qube and a few dies from each of their Companion Angles.

The quilt design is based on the quilt discovered and recreated in Jennifer Chiaverini's novel Circle of Quilters. If you love making small blocks, or enjoy the Elm Creek Quilters books by Jennifer Chiaverini, or are just ready to make something a little more involved, you will love this quilt! We've used Lori Holt and similar prints throughout for a scrappy look. See the beautiful sample hanging at the shop.

Many blocks are Accuquilt friendly.

Temperature Quilt Project!

We're making Temperature Quilts at the Quilt Corral!

Using the Sew Smart Tree of Life fusible foundations, make a year long (or 16 month) temperature quilt by cutting a triangle a day in the color that correlates with the daily high temperature. The fusible foundation makes for perfect points on those triangles!

We have a few kits available that include the Lop and Fuse ruler, the tree background and tree trunk fabric, a selection of colors in Grasscloth for the daily , and a temperature chart based on average high temps for Willows.  You will add your own fabric for the setting triangles.

This is the time to buy if you want to start your quilt in the new year. We started our version in July so already have several months on display at the shop. For temperatues outside of the North Valley, you may need to adjust the chart (for example, Barb, in Kansas didn't need a color for over 109 but she needed to add more colors for her cold winter days!)

New Fabrics!

Round Up is a new westsern line in those classic western colors of navy, beige and red. The prints include traditional bandana prints, ropes, and boots, but there are a couple special prints with longhorn cattle in pastures sprinkled with blue bonnets. This collection would be great in a star quilt with matching pillowcases!
